Tether (2026)
Each time I land in Taoyuan Airport, I put away my airpods with the knowledge that the next time I take them out will be on my return flight back to JFK. In NYC, noise cancellation is a pivotal part of my everyday life—making or breaking my mood navigating this cacophonous, claustrophobic city—but when I’m back in the motherland, all I want to do is soak in the overlapping minutiae of this beautiful island with every sense I possess.
Over the course of my life, it’s become familiar to be foreign and foreign to be familiar. As an immigrant and transplant, there’s a delicate toggle between belonging and alienation when I’m in either of the places I call home. In TETHER (2026), I hope to unravel parallels between Taipei and Brooklyn, two seemingly disconnected places, perhaps mutually exotic, tethered to each other by my life story.
